Getting Started with Outdoor Wedding Planning

So you have just stepped out into the world of outdoor wedding planning! But where do you even begin? We’ve put together a series of video tips to help kick-start those initial plans for you.

One | Wedding Email Address

The earlier you set up your own wedding email address the sooner you can begin using it. This means that when you make all of your enquiries to the different suppliers, the information comes to a central point that you can both access.

Later as you begin to invite your guests, this can also be the email address you use for your RSVP’s.

The Benefits of having a wedding email address:

✅ You both have access

✅ It is easier to find the information

✅ Everything is in a central place for when you have dedicated wedmin

✅ A central point for guests to RSVP to

Two | Guest List Writing

If you are newly engaged you are going to want the world to celebrate with you – everyone will be hitting your guest list! Starting early with your guest list writing will help you to see how big of a day you “could” be planning. If this number is huge and you’re finding you are inviting school friends you’ve not seen for 10 years, it could be a good indicator to review the list again.

► Start with the MUST have’s. Those that are non-negotiable, they have to be there

► Would Like’s. This could be the deciding factor on whether you are having daytime and evening guests

► Children. Will these be attending? How far does that stretch to – just family children or all children or no children at all

► Family Friends. Parents may have ideas that they are allowed to invite their own friends, especially if they are contributing to the wedding budget. The best advice for this is to have these conversations early so you can plan for it.

Three | Read Reviews

Reviews are a window into the supplier you are considering using. It gives you a sense of the experience others have had in the past. If you cannot decide between two suppliers, this could be the differentiating point for you.

Consider what it is that you feel is important to receive from the supplier you are considering. Is it support, experience, as well as delivering on the service you have paid for. The reviews might be able to give you some insight into whether others have received what it is you are looking for.

Four | Your Non-Negotiables

Agreeing between the two of you what your non-negotiables are early on, will help you to make decisions further down the line. For example, it might be imperative that you can provide your own drinks all day. Knowing this will help you to quickly sift through and decide on an outdoor wedding site that allows this. These are unique to the two of you. Knowing what these are will help you to identify what you do not want, even when you are not sure what you do want.

Five | Where can we have it

We’ve a number of sites across the Midlands that we have worked with, some of these sites we’ve had a relationship with for over 10 years. If you need ideas on the different sites check out our venue page.

You may be lucky enough to have your own site or garden that you are looking to host your celebration in – we are always happy to work with you to help you create your own pop up wedding venue – because in truth, this is exactly what you are doing.

Six | Can we get married in a field

We are hoping that the law on this changes very soon, but currently a building needs to be licensed to have an outdoor ceremony. Fingers crossed, we’re hoping this moves forward and that the person is licensed. So if that is the case, how do people have an outdoor ceremony?
