Crew member – Tipi Erector – April to end September

​Do you love the outdoors? Sami Tipi has an exciting opportunity to join their set-up team.​

Sami Tipi are one of the leading tipi hire companies in the UK and is based in the Midlands. We hire out large linkable tipi structures and sailcloth marquees, mainly for weddings, private parties and corporate events. Most of our events are in the Midlands area, though we do at times travel further afield.

Sami Tipi has built up an excellent reputation for customer care and all crew are expected to work hard and take a pride in what they do. That said, while the work is hard, it is very satisfying as teams work outside, in the fresh air and very often in some beautiful areas of the countryside.

Primary Duties

• Erecting and dismantling tipis, sailcloth tents and stretch tents safely and efficiently
• Loading and unloading of vehicles
• Selecting stock in the warehouse and loading accurately
• Maintenance of stock including cleaning and repairs
• Warehouse work
• Driving company vehicles to and from site

The crew member needs to meet the following criteria:

Essential

• Enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking
• Full Clean Driving License
• Ability to work as part of a team, follow instructions and procedures to ensure jobs run smoothly.
• Fit and strong with the ability to carry out physical work and lift heavy items
• Hardworking and a willingness to get the job done
• Excellent Communication Skills
• Reliable and punctual with a good work ethic
• Be able to undertake specific tasks as directed and to be able to follow set procedures
• Eligible to work in the UK

Desirable

• Experience of working outdoors (or an interest to work outside) whatever the weather
• Over 25 (for vehicle insurance purposes)
• Live within 30mins drive of DE73 7JB

You do not need any previous experience of working with tipis and marquees as full training will be given, however, to have previous experience in the marquee industry would be an advantage.

Hours of work:

Approx 45 hours pre week. When leaving for jobs, we usually meet around 6:00am, so living within 30mins of our warehouse in DE73 7JB would be helpful. As a rule the working week is Monday through to Friday with Saturday and Sunday off however occasionally we swap the Friday for Sunday where required.

Job Type:

Fixed term contract for 3 people (April to September) however there is a possibility of one becoming a permanent role.

Salary: 

We offer competitive rates of pay for our crew and the opportunity for career progression for the right candidates. The job offers plenty of hours of work throughout the season which runs from April to the end of September.

​Employees days start early and can be long sometimes so the job is not suitable for people who want a normal 9-5 type of job. However if you’re willing to work the hours you will be rewarded with a satisfying job working as part of a close-knit, fun team of people.
