Flic and Lloyd’s Tipi Wedding at Ettie’s Field
Flic and Lloyd celebrated tipi wedding at Ettie’s Field, Atherstone in Two Giant Hats and Chill-Out Tipi. They wanted nothing more than to throw a massive party with their closest family and friends to celebrate their marriage. And that is exactly what they did!
With Ettie’s Field being the perfect boho backdrop for their day, they created a super chilled out, relaxed celebration. With low key bbq and hog roast, plenty of drinks, face painting and music to dance the night away. It was the perfect party that they and their loved ones will remember for a long time to come!
Flic talks us through the details here alongside photos by Kylie Randle Photography.
What made you decide on an outdoor wedding?
Lloyd and I love throwing Summer BBQ Garden parties, it was my mum who said ‘’you guys throw the best parties’’, and that was it! That’s exactly what we wanted for our wedding day!
What did everybody wear?
Lloyd wore Chinos, shirt, waistcoat and braces. I wore a typical bridal dress, I tried all the boho wedding dresses and they really didn’t suit me, so in the end I just went with what I fell in love with which was a plain dress with beautiful detail on the back from the Bridal Room Atherstone. My bridesmaid all wore dresses from Reiss, Flower girls wore dresses from Next (well my 2 year old didn’t wear hers) “don’t want pretty dress” so she wore a pink ditsy jumpsuit with red crocs???!! LOLS!
Tell us about your ceremony.
We got married at our local church St Mary’s Atherstone. Michael the Vicar is our neighbour and he provided us with a beautiful service and really got the measure of Lloyd and I. It was really personal and there were plenty of laughs! As this is our local church (literally a 5 minute walk from our house) I decided to walk to the church which saved us a small fortunate on vehicles and all of our neighbours were out clapping us as we left. And my mum had even decorated the side entry to the church where we walked!
As soon as the bells rang once we were married, the pub over the road, The Angel Ale House, ran across with a bottle for Lloyd and I.
How would you describe your theme / styling?
Low Key and relaxed. I thought the Tipis were stunning as they were so didn’t want to spoil the look. Less is More right? We had a few bits that Lloyd and his team at his workplace Gemini Exhibitions Ltd made and that was pretty much it. Like a card box, an old crate for order of service. Empty spirit bottles for decorates on the tables and Friends Quotes instead of table numbers.
How did you feed your guests?
We wanted a really relaxed vibe and a BBQ was none negotiable. After Covid we really wanted local business to benefit, hence why we tried to use all business from Atherstone. So we tapped up our local butchers Bates of Atherstone. Matt and the boys were fantastic we had a selection of quality meats and salad and he even provided the cutlery, plates and condiments. Then on the evening we had a traditional hog roast, from Bates also.
How did you entertain your guests?
We used a local band call F&M Music Live they were fantastic – then we used a local DJ Anthony Teds, he was brilliant and we supplied both with a playlist of key songs we wanted to hear and they accommodated us! The dance floor was never empty as well as a face painter. Ettie’s also let us have a small fire in a fire pit and we all got a drink and toasted marshmallows!
What are your Top Tips for planning a Tipi wedding at Ettie’s Field?
Just go with it. We experienced some reservations from some guests. It’s not your typical wedding reception, questions on parking, how to get there, restrooms, food etc. We had so many comments after the wedding saying “it’s the best wedding we have ever attended” and “we pulled it out the bag”, “that wedding was so Flic & Lloyd” which was so nice to hear. We’re so glad we followed our heart and did what we wanted to do!
Also, be prepared for how dirty your dress gets, from lying in the bath tub of booze, to flinging it around the field bare footed, to dragging it across the dance floor – mine certainly shows the wear of a f***ing good day & night!!!
