Claire and Mark’s Chilled Tipi Wedding

Claire and Mark had set their hearts on a chilled tipi wedding and that is exactly what they created.  With our three giant hat tipis as their show stopping venue, they styled the space beautifully and created a gorgeous celebration with their friends and family.  A day full of laughter, games and love.

Claire talks us through the details here, alongside photos from Angelic Photo.

What made you decide on an outdoor / tipi wedding?

We first decided on an outdoor wedding when we came to view a tipi at a tipi showcase. It was one of our ideas but we were unsure until we saw the tipis in the flesh all set up and looking beautiful. That’s when we set our hearts on the outdoor wedding.

What did everybody wear?

My dress was beautiful, it had stunning lace and bead detail at the top with the bottom plain skirt and a long beaded veil. Hidden on my feet under the mass of dress were my converse all stars which had been personalised with my new name and date. I also had a denim jacket for the evening for when it got cold (although I had my beef jacket on by that point.) Mark had a lovely light blue suit which he also had some personal detail added on.

All the groomsmen looked very dapper in matching suits. Bridesmaids wore tea length Bardot dresses which matched the same colour as groomsmen ties, flower girls and Paige boy ties. Very beautiful.

Hair and make up was done by friends of mine, they did an amazing job and we all felt and looked amazing!

Tell us about your ceremony

The ceremony was in a church local to us, the reverend gave us a beautiful service which was very personalised. With us having an informal tipi reception, I did want to have a little bit of tradition involved. We left the church with the bells ringing and Bruno Mars ‘I think I want to marry you’ playing, it was magical!

And what about the extra details?

We had Mark’s beloved land rover as our wedding vehicle.

Our styling was done by Tara Knott. She did an amazing job and really made my ideas come to life.

Ellie the caravan photo booth also made an appearance, which proved very popular and a lovely addition to the photos we have already.

Who did you feed your guests?

We had around 60 day guests and 120 evening guests. They indulged on canapés and Prosecco on arrival (we missed out as we were too busy having photos taken). This was followed by afternoon tea shortly after. The evening feast was a good old hog roast! We had two cakes, one of which was an excavator as Mark is very much into his machines and vehicles. It also included Mark and I as the cake toppers with both of our dogs dotted on the cake.

A tipi wedding is a great show stopper for a very chilled wedding vibe. There was plenty of space to enjoy every aspect of the day without any worries at all. The tipis come to life at night when it gets dark and all the lights are lit up. Sami tipi are a great company to have supply the tipis and we were so thrilled with the small details that they focus on. A little bit goes a long way.
