Kiran & Aidan’s Fusion Tipi Wedding
A little under 4 weeks ago, Kiran and Aidan celebrated their fusion tipi wedding.Ā Celebrating at Walton on the Wolds Cricket Club in three giant hats and chill-out tipi, their beautiful wedding was an Asian Scottish mash up, from kilts and bagpipes, to Bhangra drums and Indian food, it was simply incredible.

Surprise Tipi Wedding
Originally booked back in March 2020 by Aidan as a surprise for Kiran, Aidanās dad Stan did a lot of the planning in order to keep it a secret.Ā That included the dreaded covid postponements!Ā But after a couple of tweaks and changes, the date was set and Kiran was let in on the secret.
Hot Wedding Weather
Kiran and Aidan got super lucky with their weather, as their wedding fell on one of the hottest weekends of the year so far.Ā With a full on heat wave in play, there were other factors to think about to keep guests cool during the day.
They managed this by hiring air conditioning units for inside the tipis, as well as small hand held fans for the guests at the tables. And, of course, plenty of water!
Wedding Day Management
With Kiran taking over the planning and Sami Tipi announcing our new Wedding Day Management service, it was the perfect time to get Beth on board to help out.Ā Here Beth talks us through the day from her perspective;
“I was so excited for Kiran and Aidanās day, the Scottish x Asian fusion was something I hadnāt experienced before and it was so obvious throughout the day.
The Groomsmen all wore traditional Scottish kilts as their wedding attire (massive props for wearing all those layers in that heat guys!) and the Brideās family were all in stunning Indian dress. The first nod to Scottish heritage during the day was the incredible bagpipe performer who played whilst the guests entered into the tipi, in time for the bride and groom to make their entrance. The performance was mesmerising and genuinely gave me goosebumps!Ā
For the wedding breakfast, delicious curries were served with various sides (I must say it was absolutely incredible food by Roti and Co). And then as a huge bonus, the evening food was Fish and Chips and Pizza, so there really was something for everyone.”
Music & entertainment
“Kiran and Aidan had booked classic Punjabi DJās Infiniti Roadshow as they knew they could get everyone up on the dance floor – which they absolutely did! In addition, Bhangra drummers The Percussionists performed alongside the DJās for most of the evening which was incredible. And not just along to the Indian music, they played a lot of mainstream well known songs with an Indian musical background mix accompanied by the drums. It was so entertaining, so classy, and so much fun! Everyone was up on the dance floor having an amazing time, even the staff (including me!) had a wonderful day. Thatās how you know youāve pulled off an amazing wedding!
The firework display at the end of the evening was spectacular and like none Iāve ever seen before. With the warmth of the twinkling tipi shining in the background, it was a truly magical evening.”
