Charlotte & Will’s Sailcloth Wedding at Cuttle Brook
Charlotte and Will celebrated their Sailcloth Wedding at Cuttle Brook. They had a Spring May wedding in our Three Pole Sailcloth. With beautiful classic styling and stunning florals and greenery, they created a classic and romantic vibe through the sailcloth.
After their gorgeous riverside ceremony, they partied hard in the sailcloth. With good food, plenty of drink and shots – all from their own outdoor horse box bar – and heaps of musical entertainment, it was a perfect Spring celebration.
Charlotte talks us through the details here, alongside stunning photos by Joanna Brooks Photography.

What made you decide on an outdoor wedding?
We loved how flexible an outdoor Sami Tipi wedding could be. We also loved the location of Cuttle Brook as it was so peaceful next to the river! You do have to have some imagination as sometimes it might be an empty field when viewing a venue but Jodie certainly helps with the vision and what it can be. We were really keen to bring our own suppliers, ideas and imagination to our wedding so an outdoor wedding was perfect for this.

What did everybody wear?
My wedding dress was Martina Liana, and Will’s suit was Hugo Boss. The best men suits were Moss Bro and Bridesmaid dresses were from the House of Fraser.

Tell us about your ceremony.
We went for a Humanist Ceremony at Cuttle Brook next to the river. It was very personal where Karen shared our “love story” to our guests. We also had our 2 boys involved where they rang bells at the end of the ceremony and added fingerprints to our script. We absolutely loved having a humanist ceremony as guests could hear about how we met, our journey and we could make it what we wanted. Sometimes ceremonies are over so quick which is why we went for this.

Sailcloth Styling Touches

How did you feed your guests?
Being from a street food background, it was important to us what food and drink we had on our wedding day. This was another reason we chose a tipi wedding as there was 100% flexibility with what we wanted to do. We had Columbo street food for our canapés/starter where guests helped themselves from the food truck during welcome drinks. We also had an ice cream van for the children (and adults!)
For the main we had another street food company called Beef on the Block who served the tastiest steak and chips! This is our meal choice as a couple so again, it was an easy choice to make. For desserts we used “rhubarb kitchen” based in Derbyshire where they made dessert stands where guests Could again help themselves. They dropped these off in the morning so they were ready to go on the tales. This made it a very relaxed and informal dinner which is what we wanted. Columbo street food stayed for the whole day and served evening food.
For drinks we had the “Hop & Hoof” which is our own bar company which made this super easy. We served Prosecco & Mocktails after the ceremony then our favourite wines on the table for dinner.

How did you entertain your guests?
We have been to many weddings where after the wedding breakfast there is a big “lull” and guests can be full and tired so to avoid this as a surprise we hired The Mariachi’s! As soon as food had finished they walked in singing which got EVERYONE on their feet. This was by sure the best money we spent on the wedding! Entertainment is actually a really important part of the day depending on what vibe you want and what budget you have.
We also had 10 children at the wedding where we hired a white bouncy castle from boho bounce. This kept the kids entertained and busy.

What are your Top Tips for planning a Sailcloth Wedding?
Hire support! By the time you have spent time and money on all the details (eg table styling signage) it is likely to work out cheaper to hire some like Tara Knott Styling. Tara is amazing and can literally do anything (within reason). Another recommendation is to have Sami tipi’s On The Day Management service on the morning of the wedding as you physically can’t be there to ensure suppliers and people are in the right place.
Plan for bad weather. We decided to go for the 3 pole which meant if it rained we could hold the ceremony inside if the worse case happened with the weater.
