Tipi Floral Installations
The most impactful thing you can do for your flower budget is to go big! And no I do not mean with the budget but with a statement piece. Having one or two statement floral installations in your Tipis will add so much more WOW than if you tried to eek out your floral budget to have flowers everywhere something you really do not have to do.
Here are some of the ways we’ve seen couples, stylists and their florists get creative with floral installations:
The Tipi Entrance
A floral archway at the top of your Tipi walkway always looks incredible. It is the first statement piece your guests will see when they arrive at your Tipis. They will be naturally intrigued to see what else is in store for them:

A broken floral arch can be a great addition to your tipi entrance.

An outdoor arch can double as a ceremony arch and focal for the tipi walkway:

Tipi Welcome Station
If you do not have a floral arch at your entrance, a statement entrance can work really well. Depending on the weather this could sit just out the front of your Tipis or just inside. This space could double as your card collection area, or welcome drinks station:

Internal Floral Installation
This was one of my favourite designs. It was so impactful as it sat just back from the Tipi entrance, so it was the first thing you saw and smelt as you entered the Tipis. It was a treat for all of your senses:

To help visualise where this verticle climbing tipi floral installation was, here is a floor plan marking the flowers:

Hanging Floral Installations
The Cloud
If you choose to have either a floral cloud or floral hoop, these sit in the centre of a tipi. They will hang from the central peak of the tipi. There are two ways in which we can support you and your florist with this:
For a floral cloud, we can install for you a pulley system. At the end of this will be a carabiner clip. This means that what your florist creates needs to be able to secure onto the clip. We will leave for you a pre-installed stake with the rope tied off on. This allows your florist to hoist flowers at a workable height and then up into place, tying off on the pre-installed stake when complete.
The Hanging Height
If you are having this gorgeous floral installation, over tables you may choose to have the flowers positioned lower than if guests were walking under it. The height of the giant hat tipi is 6.8m so your florist has lots of space and height to work with.
The Hanging Weight
We are often asked about what weight this can be. The maximum weight is 50kg, however, we also warn that your florist needs to be able to hoist it into position, even with a pulley system these can be incredibly heavy things to lift.

The Floral Hoop
The second way we can support your hanging floral installation is with a floral hoop. We have floral hoops for your florist to use, these are 1.2m in diameter. As with the cloud, these sit in the centre of a tipi hanging from the peak of the tipi.

Catkin Florist and The Rustic Wedding Company wanted to add a little more to the Tipi hanging floral installation and also draped Ruscus to the outside cross poles:

Other Tipi Floral Installation Areas
An alternative to a central hanging floral feature may be on the lower hanging poles. There are other poles that will allow you to hang floral balls, shelves or floral clouds from. These are generally around the 3m height point so work especially well if they are over a guest table. Here are a few examples of the different floral installations we have had hanging in the tipis:
Wooden Shelf

Floral Cloud over the top table

A Floral Ball over the sweetheart table (table for two).

A Floral Cloud on the linking pole. This was an eye-catching display as it was one of the first things you saw as you entered the Tipis.

Frequently asked questions
We’ve put together a quick guide on some of the commonly asked questions;
Where can we hang a floral hoop?”
A floral hoop can hang from the centre of a tipi. Depending on the number of tipis you have, will depend on which tipi or tipis will be best for this. Considerations:
❌ Dance Floor Tipi – As a rule this has your disco ball hanging from the centre.
❌ Over a fire pit – The fire pit has to sit in the centre of a Tipi too as this is where the smoke cap is positioned. We wouldn’t allow for anything hanging over the fire pit as it could become a fire hazard
✅ YES, in your dining tipis. If you have two tipis dedicated to dining, it is always nice to have a hanging floral hoop in each tipi for the purpose of symatery.
Can you provide a hoop?
YES, we have a number of hoops that are available to hire. These are 1.2m in diameter. We will leave these pre-installed in the Tipi ready for your florist to work their magic.
How do we hang a floral cloud?
Your floral cloud will hang from the centre of tipi. As with the floral hoop, this is best situated in your dining tipi(s).
We can leave for you a pulley system with a carabiner clip attached to the end and a pre-installed stake. This allows your florist to attach their creation on to the clip and then hoist into position once it is complete.
What height should my floral hoop be?”
The height of a giant hat tipi is 6.8m. The height your florist positions it will depend on what you have under it. You may choose to have this lower if it is over a dining table and no one will be walking under it.
When will my florist have access?
For a Saturday wedding, our set-up days are Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. This means your florist will always have at least the Friday afternoon to come in and start on their creation.
