Anna & Jordan’s Sailcloth Wedding at Home

Anna & Jordan’s Sailcloth Wedding at Home

Anna & Jordan celebrated their Sailcloth Wedding at Home in our Three Pole Sailcloth Tent. With the bonus of having space on their own land, they decided to do as much themselves as possible. Including all the styling – beautifully classic with the addition of stunning florals, all designed to bring the outside in and really reflect the gorgeous surroundings.

Anna talks us through the details of the day.

What made you decide on an outdoor wedding?

We liked the idea of hosting at home – Luckily we have the space to have a sailcloth tent. We also felt it would be more relaxed and we could do things exactly how we wanted without restrictions or rules from a venue.

Tell us about Your Ceremony.

We had the ceremony on the dance floor in the Sailcloth. It was conducted by Jordans step-dad, Andrew! We had officially got married 3 weeks prior at Chester registry office, which enabled us to have a more relaxed approach to our marquee wedding. For example, Jordans vows included always making sure he put the bins out, while Anna’s included always making sure the fridge was stocked with beers! We had a ‘grounded floral nest’ as our ceremony backdrop which was then used by our guests for photo opportunities.

How would you describe your theme / styling?

There was no particular theme to our wedding, but we decided on the sailcloth tent so that we could see the landscape around – We’re very lucky to have beautiful surroundings. With that in mind, we kept the style within the marquee quite simple. We went with sage green tablecloths and decorated the tables with different styles of floral arrangements – All designed and made by Anna. We had a mixture of long and round tables. The long tables had footed bowls filled with flowers and the round tables had tall stands with flowers attached. A lot of garden roses were used to make it feel as if we were bringing the ‘outside in’ through the designs. The floral nest we used for the ceremony was moved in front of the top table as a focal point.

How did you feed your guests?

We are in the fortunate position that our brother-in-law (Matt) is a chef so we sat down with him and decided on a menu that was fuss free and would be enjoyed by everyone! We settled on pie and mash for mains and ‘Agden’ Eton mess for dessert. Before we sat for our meal, we had a selection of canapés including miniature toad in the hole and miniature burgers. The evening food was pulled pork baps with stuffing and apple sauce – After going to several weddings with this as evening food, we knew it would go down a treat!

How did you entertain your guests?

We had a band in the evening – They were fab and kept the dance floor full for the entire evening. I’m sure they were all entertained by our first dance too. We’re both fans of Gavin and Stacey so chose Nessa and Bryn’s version of Islands in the stream… And decided that line dancing (as featured in the programme) would be the only way to dance!

What is your Top Tip for planning a sailcloth wedding?

Be as organised as you can be and get help from whoever is willing! It’s surprising how much there is to do once the tent has gone up. We made things slightly more difficult by doing everything ourselves. I think being organised takes away most of the stress which means you can enjoy the process! After having a vision of what your wedding will look like, it is so nice to be able to put everything together and see the vision come to life!
