Jess and Jamie’s Rustic Tipi Wedding took place on their own land, in Three Giant Hat Tipis surrounded by the beauty of nature. Their day was full of charming details, love, and a touch of rustic elegance. Get ready to be inspired by their intimate and unforgettable wedding in the cozy embrace of Nordic tipis.

What made you decide on an outdoor wedding?

We wanted to embrace the amazing views of the countryside and loved the flexibility an outdoor wedding gave us to be creative and make the day our own.

What did everybody wear?

I was lucky enough to have my wedding dress designed from scratch in a local boutique which meant I could keep the train short and tailor it perfectly to suit an outdoor wedding. Jamie wore his RAF uniform, as did most of his groomsmen. The rest of the wedding party remained pretty traditional in suits and dresses.

Tell us about your ceremony.

We set up rows of chairs with a hessian walkway just outside the entrance of the tipi so the guests were all facing the beautiful scenery. Jamie and I wrote the ceremony script together to make it super personal to us. Luckily the weather held and we were able to have the entire ceremony outside and the sun came out just as we exchanged vows and rings!

How would you describe your theme / styling?

Our theme was rustic and DIY with lots of florals and country vibes. Boelle Event styling helped us achieve our dream look.

How did you entertain your guests?

We had an acoustic duo after the ceremony and a full live band in the evening. We also had some giant outdoor games to play including Jenga, horseshoe throwing, naily and swing ball (the brides favourite!)

How did you feed your guests?

We utilised the amazing Kemp and Kemp catering services who provided canapés after the ceremony, kept our glasses topped up and served a sit down 2 course dinner (starter and main). Followed by coffee and more sparkles for the toast. We then had a DIY dessert station for later in the evening with a traditional cake, gingerbread cake, sweets station and more. Finally, we had an amazing stone baked pizza van from Alpine Pizza as our evening food which went down an absolute storm!

What are your Top Tips for planning a Tipi wedding?

Make it your own and choose your venue/field wisely – think about water and vehicle access! If there is space for guests to camp, this is a great way of keeping the party going long into the night without the worry of taxis and transport getting home.

A couple of extra Top Tips

If you can buy your own alcohol and charge guests £1 per token, each token = 1 drink, you can help prevent waste, recoup some costs and guests don’t have to carry around loads of change!

Finally, lots of florals and greenery are your friend! It helps to fill the big space, looks amazing and creates a big impact.
