The Generator Hire for your Sami Tipi Wedding
When our event team hires a generator for you, it is more than just a generator hire!
The Sami Tipi way for generator hire
So you’re getting married in a field. You are in effect building your own pop-up wedding venue. This requires certain things to help you make the event function and the generator is the big one. It is also the one that will wake you up at 3:00 a.m. in the morning as you think about it. Our job is to reduce and ideally eradicate the 3:00 a.m. wake-up sweats where your mind cannot stop racing to all the eventualities and problems you might have with your generator.
Our six-step process is there for you to ensure we’ve mapped out and planned everything we’re going to need for your event generator and stop those wake-up sweats.
Step One
Identifying the need for a generator and getting this booked.
Booking a generator requires more than just a generator. The physical hire includes the;
- Event Generator
- Fuel (this is what the generator runs on).
- Distribution box (not everything plugs directly into the generator, but smaller distribution boxes around the Tipis or Marquee).
- Cabling (the cables from the generator and distro box to where you need the actual power points).
- Emergency Call-Out.
Step Two
Mapping out.
During your wedding planning time, we’ll have two formal planning meetings. This is dedicated time with one of our event managers to work through both your site and floor plan. During this time, we’ll learn about the other suppliers you’ve employed to be part of your event team. We’ll map out where they are going to be on-site and consider where power points will be needed to be placed for all of their needs.
Step Three
Reaching out.
After our final planning meeting, we’ll have agreed the floor plan, the site plan, and fully understand all of your suppliers and where they are going. We’ll now take the time to share the floor plan and site plan with your supplier team, and also more importantly ask them what they need. We now understand every supplier requiring power and their needs. This will then be shared with your build team ahead of setup.

Step Four
Planning it out
The build team will draw out an electrical plan over the floor plan that the event team has put together for you. This ensures that:
1) You have all of the power points where they are needed.
2) It’s all cabled really tidily, so you have no draping cables.
Step Five
The setup.
The team will work to all of your agreed plans and set out sockets, distributing the power points where required. We call this plug and play. Basically, your suppliers can arrive with peace of mind that all they need to do is plug in and get on with their job.
Step Six
The handover.
At the handover, the team will walk you around your Tipi or marquee space to show you where the sockets are. This is also the time we’ll show you how to turn the generator on and off. We’d always recommend filming this or having a couple of people watch this with you. Not because it’s difficult, but because it’s unlikely that you’ll be the one turning the generator on. Hopefully, you’ll be busy getting yourself ready.
In summary, when Sami Tipi hires your event generator, it really is more than a generator. It is peace of mind that we’ve taken care of all the elements for you simply so you do not have to. #thesamitipiway.
