Meg and Jack did not shy away from colour. Their Tipi Wedding was full of bold colours and DIY styling.
If you are looking for ideas for your own Tipi Wedding, look no further. Meg and Jack nailed every detail of their day and this blog is full of ideas that will be sure to inspire you for your own Tipi Wedding Styling.
This really was a colour pallet of dreams, filled with pink, teal and mustard. Every detail was considered, but when you love design and are a graphic designer by trade, I guess you’ll find it easy to pull this through to your special day too.

What made you decide on an outdoor wedding?
We wanted a laid-back, fun and utterly relaxed celebration that truly represented us. We had Three Giant hat tipis set up in my Parent’s field. The idea was to create a space that felt personal, where we could let loose and stamp our own style into everything.

What did everybody wear?
I wore an Avril Rue de seine dress after seeing this on Pinterest shortly after we got engaged. After trying on a few different dresses, my heart was always with Avril. The dress consists of a slip layered with cornelli lace, featuring cut-out details on the train and sleeves, a low back and full skirt and train. This was finished off with a simple tassel veil with matching tassel earrings.
I was really relaxed about my bridesmaids dresses. I gave my bridesmaids full reign to choose the colour and style that suited them. We went with high-street dresses from ASOS, Boohoo and Next in pinks and mustards.

Jack always knew that he didn’t want to wear a full suit. Keeping with the more informal and personal celebration, we felt that the jacketless, braces and bow-tie look was perfect.

Tell us about your ceremony
We’d always hoped to have the ceremony outside. We were really lucky to have the gorgeous spring sunshine. As with everything, we wanted the ceremony to be very personalised, Bex the Celebrant helped us to nail this.
Music was a big part of the ceremony. We had Simon Gynn from Dublin, to play live acoustic music. My bridesmaids walked down the aisle to Over the Rainbow and I followed with Here Comes the Sun.
The ceremony featured a group sing a long of Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, a written poem by my mum, a group vow and a shot of Tequila Rose, as well as hand-fasting, featuring our grandparents. We wanted everyone to be involved.

How did you feed your guests?
During our drinks reception, we had a booze bath and popcorn.
Our menu had to be full of our favourite foods. In the day we chose to have a sit-down meal but we kept the menu relaxed with sharing platters and Pie and mash from Pieminster.
For dessert we had Madame Crepe serving crepes with lots of different toppings and Rob from Boxed Drinks served hot drinks from his bright red Citreon van.
In the evening we had our favourite Bao Buns served up by the Little Bau Boys Food Van.

How would you describe your styling?
Coming from a design background, this was the one part I had a real clear vision for and I undoubtedly knew that I wanted to style everything myself (with the help of family and friends of course).
We chose a bold colour palette of pinks, teals and mustard which ran through every element of our day.

The Stationery
As a graphic designer, I designed and printed all of the stationery elements from the invites, seating plan, place names and signage. Everything was in our colour palette with lots of added cuteness with tassels, fringing and gold foiling.

The Furniture
We built, created and upcycled most of our furniture and decor. Some items that we didn’t source ourselves we hired from Inspired Hire Weddings, including the brass frames, milk churns and a second peacock chair as we’d only managed to hunt down one!
The rustic trestle tables were hired from Green Farm Marquees. We dressed these with pink-dyed cheesecloth runners. We layered these up with colourful candle sticks, tealights, bud vases and a fun touch of disposable cameras.
To save on cost, we purchased all 56 chairs from Facebook Marketplace. The price ranged from £0 to £5. We painstakingly painted them all using Farrow and Ball “Dix Blue”. We re-listed all the chairs on Facebook Market Place and they sold in a day and were collected immediately, meaning we didn’t have to move all of the chairs again.

The Cake Display
Making a feature of our cake and sweet stand was important to us and we were lucky enough to find a sideboard for free on Facebook Market Place. We painted again in Farrow & Ball “Nancy Blushes”.

At the front of our Tipis, we had a Booze Bath, which I had one for just £1 on ebay!! This we painted in “Nancy Blushes” too.

Throughout our Tipi space, we had other furniture bits that we’d manage to pick up from either Facebook Marketplace or Ebay. This included the pink chaise longue, boudoir chairs, pink telephone chair for our audio telephone guest book, and pink vintage sofa and armchairs.

Inside the Tipis we had our own neon sign that would normally hang at home “He’s her lobster” and my mum had made the tassel garland from old clothes and bed sheets.

With us choosing a very bold colour palette, we knew that we wanted this to be reflected in our flowers. Hollie (Moss Floral Artistry) instantly understood our vision and was as excited as were were to see it all come together.
We chose fresh roses and peonies, mixed with dried pampas and bunny tails to give it a colourful boho vibe.
Behind our sweetheart table hung our bespoke banner made by Tanya at Daydream Creative Studio “Forever Young” (our married name). With complimentary Meg and Jack chair cushions.

Doing the design, stationery, sourcing and painting took a lot of time. However, we would not have had it any other way. We loved how it all came together and we feel we created something very special and unique that reflected us as a couple.

How did you entertain your guests?
Making the most of our outdoor space, we had a local farm drop off three large hay bales, which were a huge hit. I styled these up with lots of colourful cushions. Outside we also had a number of fun garden games.
We also hired an Audio Guest Book – an alternative to the traditional photo booth! Guests loved this and the messages that were left had us both chuckling for days after.
Music was the biggest part of our entertainment. Simon Gynn played two further sets in the evening, including our first dance to Forever Young (our new surname!)
We are both massive ABBA fans, so it was an easy decision to have UK Bjorn perform for the rest of the evening. Everyone danced and sang along. We were so glad that we’d made the decision to have live music throughout the day.
