9 Top Tips For Coping With Hot Weather
Summer 2022 was HOT! Ahead of our 2023 weddings, we’ve come up with 9 top tips for coping with hot weather and for keeping your guests as comfortable as possible.
1. Paper Fans
Fans are a simple and easy item that you can hand out to your guests before your ceremony. Why not make them even more special and double them up as a personalised wedding favour? You could purchase paper fans and speak to your stationer/calligrapher about adding your names or a monogram. You could even make them into super handy order of the day cards for your guests to keep.
2. Parasols
For an outdoor ceremony, provide your guests with parasols to shade themselves. Simple white detracts from the heat, or you could even go in line with your colour scheme.
3. Create Shade
Find a way to create outdoor shaded seating areas so that your guests can enjoy the nice weather comfortably. Our Little Hat tipis are the perfect outdoor addition to pop some comfy seating underneath.
4. Cool Your Canapés
Speak to your caterers about creating a fun cool canapé selection with a twist for your guests to enjoy. Mini savoury ice lollies, anyone?
5. Cocktail Fun
Ask your bar about creating some fun frozen cocktails for the menu, they’re sure to go down a hit.
6. Ice Buckets
Ice buckets full of cooled water bottles are a simple and easy way for your guests to grab a cooling refreshment when they need it. You could even add ice lollies into the mix! Also creating an arrival drink station for when your guests arrive to site gives your guests the option for a cool beverage straight away.
7. Outfit Choices
When sending your invites, give your guests notice that it would be smart for them to attend in breathable clothing. Anything linen and cotton based is a good start! Floaty dresses, shorts and sandals should be welcomed, and giving your guests licence to wear shorts is a bonus! Layering is ideal as, even though it is hot during the day, the evenings are often cool.
8. Goody Baskets
Pop baskets full of handy items around the tipis or sailcloth, for your guests to help themselves to. Hand held fans, cooling mist, deodorant, and suncream are just a few ideas that you can add in.
9. Ice Cream
Why not book an ice cream cart or bike for your guests to enjoy a refreshing treat for their dessert!
A Few Extra Tips
Besides filling the space with fans, how can you naturally cool your tipi or sailcloth?
Sailcloth
With a sailcloth, you can choose to have most of your sides off if it is planned to be a scorcher on your big day, which helps to create a refreshing breeze throughout the space. Similar to parasols, with the sailcloth having a white roof, this naturally detracts from the sun so it feels nice and fresh inside.Â
Tipis
Tipis have a few tricks to help with air flow. For example, having a larger opening at the front or leaving off the covering canvasses. You can also open the zip doors inside the tipi and even open the smoke caps to let in the breeze, which can often make a great impact as the heat is drawn up and out.
Little Hat
Our Little Hat Tipi is the perfect outdoor shaded area for your guests to relax under. With just the roof and no sides, it is an airy mini structure which always goes down well with guests. Especially if you are planning an outdoor drinks and canapés reception.
