Amy & Ed’s Vineyard Tipi Wedding
Amy and Ed celebrated their Vineyard Tipi Wedding in our Two Giant Hats and Chill-Out Tipi back in July this year. Their main focus was to eat, drink and party, and definitely not in a “traditional wedding” sense. Amy has worked in hospitality for a long time and has seen numerous traditional, structured weddings. So she knew that her and Ed didn’t want their wedding to follow the same regimented routine. Therefore, this need for a relaxed, flexible wedding day was instrumental in their decision to choose an outdoor tipi wedding.
So with all of this in mind they chose their venue, a farm in Burton on the Wolds that also just happened to be a vineyard. They had a really clear vision of how they saw their day, and how they wanted everything to look. From where the tipis were going, and how they were feeding their guests, to having their ceremony between the vines and a DIY approach to the smaller styling details.
Here is Jodie talking to Amy and Ed about their day;

Feeding Their Guests
Amy and Ed continued their relaxed wedding vibe through their food and drink. They wanted it to be really chilled with their guests being able to graze throughout the day.
They had canapés after their ceremony that doubled up as a starter. Bao buns, sushi, and prawns, to name a few. This meant that their guests were only officially seated for their main course. For their main course, they had sharing boards made up of all sorts of delights. Burgers, slow cooked lamb and chicken, potato salad. Barbecue mushrooms and pulled jackfruit for vegetarian and vegan options. It was all in a relaxed barbecue style that worked really well in the July sunshine.
Then their desserts were arranged in a “help yourself” style, with lots of tables set out with sweet treats. Doughnuts, macarons, cupcakes and jars of sweets. This meant that people could help themselves when they were ready.
They had a pizza van to serve around 6pm. Then later into the evening, they ordered samosas from the local Indian restaurant that is just at the top of the vineyard. These went down an absolute treat as hunger set in from lots of dancing!

Top Tips and Advice
“Do it, and embrace the weather. We spent about a week worrying about the weather, then just decided what will be, will be and we’ll just enjoy it.
Make the most of it. We understand why people get someone in to do the decorating and styling for them, because they know what they’re doing and it’s just done. But we wanted to make the most of it. You get married in this one moment, so make the most of the days before, during and after.
We got married on the Saturday but the tipis went up on the Tuesday, so we pretty much spent 4 days getting everything the way we wanted. It was 4 days being outside in the sunshine, and we actually really enjoyed it. It took time, but it was so worth it. On the day, you see all these little details that you put there, and you know it was us that put it all there, it just made it so worth it.
The little things that you might think are important aren’t the end of the world. For example, I know that no one lit our candles in the evening, and no one turned the fairy lights on in the tipis the next day. But no one else noticed that. So just don’t stress about it.
The biggest bit of advice is to put you into it. Do what you love. Don’t worry about family and friends saying ‘what about this, and what about that’. Trust yourself, ask them to trust you, and make it all about who you are.”

Your Experience of Sami Tipi
“Overwhelmingly simple and you just had our backs through everything.
We couldn’t have had the wedding at our venue of choice without Sami Tipi. So many marquee companies said no, but you just got on board with it straight away.
You’re totally stress free. Even when we had panic moments, you were just there saying “yeah, let’s sort it”.
If we could do it all again, we would do it exactly the same, because we loved it. You made it our wedding, you made it us, which was so perfect.”
