When the Sailcloth makes you want to do cartwheels across the dance floor you know that you’ve created something special.
We were so excited to hand the Sailcloth Tent over to Tara of Tara Knott Styled Events with the brief “Fun and Colourful”. Oh boy did she deliver! With a full nod of the head to ‘Hey Barbie’, this inspired all things FUN and of course, PINK!

Tara working closely with an incredible team of suppliers created something that the Sailcloth had never seen before. We’ll hand you over to the team to tell you a little more, it is a good one we promise!
The Inspiration behind the Styling
Over to Tara; “Having always had a more formal feel to previously styled events, I wanted to create something that really POPPED! With a complete reference to Barbie, we wanted to bring a disco feel to the theme with some bright colours and of course the tassels and disco balls!”
“The colour palette was of course pink and all things Barbie. We used as many shades of pink as possible, which complemented each other. With the Sailcloth offering such a light blank canvas, the colour was a real showstopper, and the space enabled us to hang tassels over the dance floor which leant itself to that.”

Creating different posing stations was a great way to showcase to the couples the different ways they can style their own wedding.

The Flowers
Maria Heywood from the Flower Patch, talks us through all things flowers; “The choice of flowers really worked with the theme, all locally grown by me and other local growers. I used shades from pale pink to deep burgundy to give a deeper depth, with the main flowers being Dahlias, Cosmos, some Statis and Amaranthus. To add texture and interest, I also added in some wispy grasses with dried Limonium and dried Honesty. All those little bits added some sparkle, which complimented the disco ball perfectly.

The bouquet was created in my own wild garden style, finished with some pale pink velvet ribbon. For the tables some dried flowers were arranged in bud vases, again all locally sourced with no bleached materials and all natural. This enabled me to showcase the different styles available, with the fresh flowers in meadow boxes with some dried elements to again add texture. All these were made without any floral foam, so no plastic was involved, making everything recyclable and meaning people could take the flowers home quite easily afterwards.”

Working with other amazing Suppliers
It can also be the simple things that have a great impact, in particular the phone we used in the shoot from Tone and Lux Booth, which was an amazing addition to the styling.

We worked with Polly and Me and Ruby Lou Cakes to add the special touches, because having worked with them previously, we knew they’d be able to go away with the brief and come up with something amazing.
Signage
Ali from Polly and Me said, “For this shoot I felt like I could really have fun and with my signage. I mixed together the more elegant calligraphy style, with my traditional style sign writing. I am in love with the outcome!”

The Treat Table
Natalie from Ruby Lou’s Cakes added, “When it’s Barbie as inspiration, you know you’re going to get creative. I opted for oversized hot pink bows, on an ultra tall cake, because, why not? Teamed with the more subtle nods of disco balls. A bang on trend Lambeth heart cake, with more subtle hints of the sound track. It was joy to be so “Pink!”

PLAYTIME
What did the Model Wear?
We decided not to go for bridal dresses for the model and instead used high street shops. She wore dresses from Monki, and then went for pink shoes from Asos. Pink is a colour that has always been used in weddings but we’re definitely seeing it used more and more, so it’s becoming a real trend. The tasselled jacket supplied by Mirla was a real talking point, and you can see how impactful it was to the shoot.
