Gemma & Simon’s Sailcloth Wedding at Cattows Farm
Gemma and Simon celebrated their sailcloth wedding at Cattows Farm back in May this year. They held their ceremony under the tree and then celebrated in our Two Pole Sailcloth. The sailcloth was styled by the brilliant Lesley from The Rustic Wedding Company, who is also Gemma’s sister. They had a pink and grey colour scheme, with stunning florals and Game of Thrones themed stationery.
Gemma talks us through the details here, alongside photos from Helen Eames.

What made you decide on a Sailcloth wedding at Cattows Farm?
We wanted something a little different to other weddings we had been too and having been to a few showcases that my sister of the Rustic Wedding company had styled, I just fell in love with the idea of having a wedding outside. I had also always wanted a reception in a marquee, so when I saw the Sailcloth for the first time I was blown away by how beautiful it looked.
After seeing Sami tipi set ups at a few showcases, I thought the Tipi’s were lovely and we were considering having one until I saw the sailcloth set up. I was simply blown away by how beautiful they were and when you added the styling I just couldn’t resist, we had to have one! If I was to do it all over again, I would definitely have the sailcloth!

What did everybody wear?
I wore a beautiful ivory dress with crochet details on the top with capped sleeves. I went shopping with my Mum and this was one of the first dresses I tried on, chosen by Jo at Bradgate brides. My mum was in tears instantly so we knew it was a contender. After trying on other dresses, we went back and as I was checking the label I noticed it was called ‘the Margaret’ which was the name of my Nanna. We were both in tears then as it was simply meant to be! We bought it straight away as it was in my size!
As we had decided on the colour scheme of blush pink and grey, we knew Simon’s suit had to be grey. Simon chose a gorgeous light grey suit which suited him so well! The groomsman were in a darker grey so that Simon would stand out! Our 2 page boys also had matching suits and stole the show!
I found my bridesmaids dresses really early on as I knew exactly what I wanted, something simple that would suit all my beautiful girls as they’re all different. When they arrived I was amazed at how lovely they were! They also didn’t need much altering, they just needed taking up. I also wanted something that wouldn’t be too heavy as I knew we would be on grass. When I finally saw all my girls in the their dresses together for the first time, I was in tears. They all looked so beautiful and I was so happy with my choice.

Who did your hair and make up?
My hair was done by Love Laura Hair Design and she was nothing short of amazing on our wedding day. Everyone’s hairs looked so lovely! My make-up was done by Brooke Shannon Artistry and I loved how lovely she made me look, so many people commented on how much the makeup suited me.
Tell us about your ceremony.
Our ceremony was amazing! It was exactly what we had hoped for, something relaxed and informal. The family friend who performed our ceremony was a retired Salvation Army officer. He had known Simon since he was 3 years old as his family attended the Salvation Army church when he was growing up. David made us feel so at ease and he even made people laugh. So many people commented on how lovely the ceremony was.

How would you describe your styling?
One word……AMAZING! Our styling was done by The Rustic Wedding Company who I am very proud to say is owned by my sister Lesley McCall. Team Rustic went above and beyond to ensure our wedding looked beautiful. Lesley and her team really brought my vision to life and I couldn’t thank them more.

How did you feed your guests?
Simon has 2 children, so we had a chat with them about what food they would like as they can be quite fussy and they both said ‘pizza’ so the hunt was on. I found All Fired Up Pizza and they offered exactly what we were looking for so we decided to feed our guests pizza in the evening.
As for the wedding breakfast, we wanted something that would cater for all our guests dietary requirements and came across Keythorpe Wedding and Event Caterers who offered a great package where guests could put what they wanted on their plates. There was even left over for some guests to have seconds.
