We’re always thrilled to help couples bring their wedding dreams to life, and Ellie and Aaron’s celebration was a perfect example of how a unique venue can transform a special day. Their Cricket Club Tipi Wedding was everything they envisioned—an intimate, relaxed affair set in the heart of their beloved village.
With the local church just a stone’s throw from the cricket club, guests enjoyed a seamless transition from a traditional ceremony to a laid-back, outdoor reception under beautifully styled tipis. From start to finish, this day was all about celebrating love, community, and the stunning countryside that surrounds them.
Ellie talks us through their day:

What made you decide on a Tipi Wedding?
We wanted a relaxed, outdoor wedding that embraced the beautiful countryside where we live. Keeping everything in our village made the day even more special, and the stunning backdrop added a unique touch to our photos. With an August wedding, we were keen to enjoy the summer weather, and having both bridal and groom parties walk to the church from our prep locations was a perfect, stress-free start to the day.

What did the Bridal Party Wear?
I wore a stunning dress by Adore by Justin Alexander, while my bridesmaids looked lovely in sage green dresses. The groom and best man were sharp in light grey French Connection suits, and the remaining groomsmen complemented them perfectly in dark grey suits from Moss Bros.

Tell us about your Ceremony
We got married at Rushton Church, which is conveniently located right next to the cricket club where our tipi reception was set up. This made it easy for our guests, as they only had a short walk from the ceremony to the celebration. The ceremony itself was a traditional church wedding, but we added a personal touch with some modern music for our entrance and exit.

How did you Feed Your Guests?
We chose Thomas the Caterer, and we can’t recommend them enough! For the daytime, we opted for grazing tables filled with both savoury and sweet options. This allowed our guests to enjoy a wide selection of food without being tied to a formal sit-down meal, which fit perfectly with our relaxed vibe.
In the evening, we served burgers, wraps, and chips. The catering team even brought the food directly to our guests, inside and outside the tipi, so no one had to stop dancing for long to grab a bite!

How did you Style your Tipis?
We went for a pretty, country-style vibe with lots of pastel colours, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. We took on all the decor and styling ourselves, which made the lead-up to the wedding even more special. It was not only a great way to save some money, but we also found it incredibly enjoyable! Our tip: if you can, dive into the styling yourself – it’s worth it!

From Tipi Booking to Tipi Wedding: A 12-Month Journey
Our journey from booking the tipis to our wedding day took about 12 months, which gave us the time we needed to carefully plan every detail. One of our biggest tips for other couples is to give yourself plenty of time. Coordinating multiple suppliers can be tricky, especially when trying to match availability, so starting early is key.
Another important piece of advice: focus on what you and your partner want. It’s easy to get caught up in trying to please everyone, but remember, this day is about the two of you. Make choices that reflect your vision and create the day you’ve always dreamed of.
