Sami Tipi Wedding Open Weekend

Spotlight on The Ceremony Company

We are only weeks away from our open weekend which is taking place on the 19th and 20th April at Bawdon Lodge Farm. We have enrolled the help of some very talented suppliers, who will be helping us showcase our magnificent tipis. The open weekend will give you the opportunity to see two giant hats and chill-out tipi and meet fabulous suppliers.

On todays blog I want to shine the spotlight on Val and Jo from The Ceremony company. Often I get asked, “Can we get married in the tipis”? Well these lovely ladies will be on hand over the weekend to tell you how they can help make this happen for you.

Firstly tell us a bit about yourself?

The Ceremony Company is ran by myself (Jo) and Val. We are experienced Registrar’s who saw a need for more personalised, bespoke  ceremonies that reflect the personality of the couple, rather than the ‘formal’ and often restrictive civil ceremony conducted by a Registrar.

Val and I both became frustrated by the limitations available to couples when conducting Civil Ceremonies, so decided to set up as private Celebrants, in order for us to use our knowledge and experience of conducting ceremonies with the ability to offer couples the ceremony that they want.

What services do you offer?

We conduct Wedding Ceremonies, Civil Partnership Ceremonies, Naming Ceremonies and Renewal of Vow Ceremonies.

How would you describe your style?

Definitely relaxed ! We like to meet the couple to discuss the type of ceremony they would like, so that we can match it to their personality and style. It can be as formal or informal as they like, simple or elaborate . Family and friends can be involved and through our years of experience , we can give advice on what works and what doesn’t !

What do you love most about weddings?

We absolutely LOVE conducting wedding ceremonies. We just do. It is such a privilege to be part of the couple’s big day and the ceremony is such an important part – it can set the mood for the rest of the celebration and it is wonderful to be able to give the couple the ceremony that they want and often have a hand in designing.

Finally… Whats the best moment you’ve had as a celebrant?

This is such a hard question to answer. I was trying to think of a particular ceremony, but they have all been so unique and personal, it is impossible to pick as they have all been lovely for different reasons. I think it has to be the first time working as a celebrant, where for the first time there were no restrictions placed on the ceremony I was conducting and it really reflected how the couple wanted their ceremony to be. They were so emotional – the smiles on their face said it all. I knew then that it was the best decision I had made.
