The open weekend was AMAZING, we were very lucky to work with so many very talented suppliers and host the event at an awesome location, but then I would say that!! So what I wanted to do was get a round up of the open weekend from one of our GORGEOUS COUPLES that are getting married later this year. So Lets hear what they have to say about it;

Having booked Sami Tipi as our venue last year, their open weekend was the perfect opportunity for us to see the Tipi’s!

With our wedding less than four months away the Sami Tipi Open Weekend gave us the perfect opportunity to see these fine structures in all their glory.  Whilst a photo and the internet can give you a pretty good idea of how something can look, seeing these in the “canvas” so to speak, gives you a whole lot more.

It was on the approach to Bawdon Lodge Farm when the Giant Hats first came in to view. The sight from afar was enough to prompt a “Wow” so imagine getting closer and being drawn more and more into the magic that these tipi’s create.  We honestly couldn’t get there quick enough!

After a walk across the lovely field at Bawdon Lodge Farm, on entering the tipis the first thing I noticed was the golden glow created from the light outside.  After only a couple more steps inside I knew immediately that I had made the right decision in choosing Sami Tipi for our wedding venue! The words “Amazing, Spectacular and Enchanting” don’t seem enough to describe the atmosphere that greets you.

On having met Jodie and Craig previously, seeing them again was like catching up with old friends. Their passion and commitment to Sami Tipi was abundantly clear this weekend, aswell as their commitment to you as a client. Jodie in particular has been instrumental in helping us arrange the event, so regular phone calls and emails have become common place.  Not only has Jodie steered us in the right direction when it came to hiring the right suppliers, she has talked us through all elements of the day…highlighting things I certainly hadn’t thought about!

When it comes to talking about some of the suppliers at the Open Weekend, it is hard not to be bias as three of them in attendance have already been hired for our own wedding, but seeing them again cemented the knowledge that we had definitely chosen the right people.   I’d have to firstly mention the fabulous Darby and Joan who styled the tipis.  If you’re arranging a wedding and you haven’t heard of them…where have you been!? It was very easy to see why they are the 2014 National Venue Stylist Award winners and if I had to choose two words to describe them, “Elegant and Stylish” come to mind immediately.  The table designs were out of this world and it’s obvious the team at Darby and Joan have something special when it comes to creating a client’s vision!

Our photographer Matt Brown Photography was also showcasing his amazing work at the event and with his style fitting in with our tipi wedding perfectly. Its Matt himself though, laid back and approachable, that made us choose him, in the knowledge that he would be a part of our day in a way that fits in with us.  Someone told me your photo’s are the one thing (aswell as your wedding ring…and husband too of course!!) that you will take away from the wedding to help you relive the day. Remember that when booking your own photographer…I know we’ve found the perfect man in Matt to do that for us!

The Ceremony Company’s Jo, I unfortunately didn’t get to meet, but from speaking to the other event suppliers who had worked with her the day before…there was nothing but good words to be said about her and what The Ceremony Company can offer to you if you’re not having a church wedding.

And lastly, the latest addition to our list of suppliers, Yummy Little Cakes!  With their delicious samples on offer to taste, it was after my third trip back for more that I knew I wanted them to make my wedding cake! Just another great wedding supplier with a real passion for what they do! I was a bit disappointed to find out that it’s tradition to share the cake with our guests though!!!!

I can’t finish this blog post without mentioning some of the other fabulous suppliers we came across at the Sami Tipi Open Weekend.  Greeted by Val from Benassamy I could see why she’s a successful Events Planner, with what seemed the ability to be in two places at once at times, she’s a real people person who was a pleasure to speak to. Then Thomas the Caterer with his Pork and Banana Salsa tortillas, again another supplier who I could have quite happily gone back to for more!

All in all, the weekend had quite obviously been a huge success, what with the buzz in the tipi’s, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement in the knowledge that Chris and I have all this to look forward to in August.   But then it wasn’t just Chris and I that went along…it was a perfect opportunity for both sets of our parents to experience the tipi’s before the big day!  Chris and I loved watching their faces from afar as they entered the Giant Hats. You could tell it was totally not what they had expected.  My own Mum admitted she had been sceptical when we told her we were getting married in a tipi, but her scepticism quickly dissolved into amazement.  Chris’s Mum also told us what a unique venue we had found!

And the biggest question which has plagued me since deciding to get married outdoors. Yes it did rain this weekend, and do you know what, I’m so glad it did! It’s not only confirmed what Jodie has been telling me all along that the tipi’s can fair all types of British weather, but it also confirmed, that once inside this magical venue, what goes on with the weather outside really doesn’t matter at all!!
