You’ve decided that you like the idea of a tipi wedding
BUT How & Where!!!
Planning a wedding is a really exciting time but also feel a little overwhelming, that’s why I’ve put together some great tips to get you started on planning your own spectacular tipi celebration.
6 Top Tips to Kick Start your Tipi Wedding Planning
Consider the type of day you both envision, how do you want your wedding day to look? Who do you want to celebrate this day with? With this in mind begin to write a guest list. When planning a tipi wedding each tipi arrangement has its own capacity for example up to;
72 seated guests = 1 Tipi
100 seated guests = 2 Tipis
150 seated guests = 3 Tipis
Bare in mind what else you may want in your event space, for example a bar, guest book cake table, if a little extra space is required you can also add on a chill-out tipi.
Finding the perfect site can seem like a challenge in itself, but talk to me as I often have a number of suitable sites we have used or have visited before. Again when deciding on your location or site, consider how do you want your day to look? This could help in deciding on the type of site you choose to host your tipi celebration, from farmers field to holiday lodges to manor house.
Get a bespoke quotation for your tipi wedding, consider from the optional extras what you feel is important to creating the event space you desire, is it the fireplace and fairy lights, or would you prefer a blank canvas so you really can decorate with your own design ideas in mind. A great place to get a real feel for this is at one of our open weekends. If you cannot attend one of these, feel free to speak to me about seeing the tipis set up for an event.
Services and utilities – These are the boring bits, but the important bits as these are what are going to make your event function. You may be fortunate enough to locate a suitable site that does not require any of the following as it provides it already, but if it doesn’t you will need to hire in a generator, toilets and depending on the time of year you may need heating. Although this may seem a little overwhelming do not worry we can always assist in coordinating these for you.
Get creative and inspired – A great place to start with any creative inspiration is Pinterest. We have got a selection of Pinterest boards to take a look at to get you started. Once you start pinning you will begin to see a trend in the items you are pinning, before you know it you will have a feel to your day, whether that be rustic, vintage or festival like.
When having a tipi celebration there really are no set rules, this is the same for catering and feeding your guests. Often tipi couples prefer a more relaxed approach to the catering, with ploughman’s and afternoon tea served early afternoon with a bbq or hog roast served in the evening. You have the freedom to do what you want to do and design the day you want to have.
If you would like to discuss any of these points further, please get in touch, as I am always happy to talk weddings and tipis.
